Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr. vs. Saul “Canelo” Alvarez September 14th, MGM Grand, Las Vegas

By Omar Torres: It’s finally happening, a mega fight in boxing between Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr. vs. Saul “Canelo” Alvarez on September 14th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. This fight could have the chance to match the previous record set by Oscar De La Hoya vs. Mayweather in 2007, and this match can help boxing rise again, at least here in the U.S.

It’s too bad that we might never see Mayweather – Manny Pacquiao, but at least we get to see this very interesting fight. Mayweather is finally going to be taking on a powerful young fighter in the peek of his career. This would be the first time Floyd faces a strong young stud such as Canelo in years. Canelo has never faced an opponent with the supreme boxing skills such as Floyd “Money” Mayweather, Austin Trout being the closest.

Is Canelo fight Cotto 2.0 for Trout?

Austin Trout’s arrival as A Fighter To Be Taken Seriously followed his impressive decision win over Miguel Cotto at Madison Square Garden last December. That earned him Saturday’s Showtime-televised shot against Canelo Alvarez, and the fact that he is considered to have something close to a 50-50 shot to score another upset win says a lot about both his style and that of his opponent.
