Bradley to prove win over Pacman no fluke

WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley is out to erase doubts about his controversial win over Manny Pacquiao about two years ago.

Bradley escaped with a majority decision over Pacquiao, which sparked outrage from most boxing observers and fans who thought the Filipino dominated the bout.

In an interview with Chris Mannix of SI.com, Bradley recalled the ordeal he went through after that fight.

“Look, my life and career went down the drain after the first Pacquiao fight. I didn’t want to revisit that dark cloud just yet. I wanted to fight a legend in Juan Manuel Marquez. I wanted to beat the guy who beat Pacquiao,” he told Mannix. Continue reading

Marquez vs. Bradley for September 14th?

Today on the official Twitter account of ESPN’s Spanish boxing show “Golpe To Golpe,” it was announced that Juan Manuel Marquez will be making his return to the ring after his spectacular one punch knockout of former pound for pound king Manny Pacquiao. His opponent will be Timothy Bradley.

Bradley and Marquez both share a victory over Manny Pacquiao. Though Bradley’s victory over Pacquiao is questionable, he did make it a competitive fight. The backlash that Bradley suffered after the controversial decision breathed new life into him, as seen in his last fight with former Pacquiao sparring partner Ruslan Provodnikov. With Bradley mixing it up more, a fight with Marquez is just what he needs to build himself up and test himself as a fighter.

Arum mulls Macau tiff for Manny in October

Manny Pacquiao’s much-awaited comeback has been moved to October from September, and his promoter, Bob Arum, said the fight will most likely take place in Macau.

Arum yesterday told The STAR on the phone that negotiations are still on, and that everything could be finalized within the next few days.

“Things could be finalized by the end of the week. But we’re now looking at October,” said Arum.

The chief of Top Rank Promotions didn’t mention a definite opponent yet even though the latest reports said Mike Alvarado of Colorado now has the inside track as Pacquiao’s next foe. Continue reading
